> Reverend Sangwon Hwang is a Won Buddhist minister who has worked widely with interfaith groups across the United States and in Korea to promote peacebuilding and youth development through education and dialogue. She received her MA in Won Buddhist studies from Wonkwang University Graduate School in South Korea. She received her second master’s degree in applied meditation from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Philadelphia, USA. She also recently completed the East-West Center’s Asia Pacific Leadership Program, which brings together emerging leaders from diverse fields across the United States and the Asia Pacific region to engage with high-level content through experiential learning and practical application of ideas. With a grant from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Public Affairs, she has worked with the Religious Institute in South Korea and the International Retreat Center in Hawaii to organize an international interfaith conference, to be held in Korea in July 2019, exploring the role of cultural exchange inspired by interreligious movement in addressing issues of unification, reconciliation and peace on the Korean Peninsula. Recently, she has worked at the Won Buddhism Department of International Affairs, promoting the Interfaith movement while collaborating with Korean and foreign international leaders.
