[Biography]
Rev. Heo became deeply drawn to the practice of mind practice in Won-Buddhism, which led to my ordination in 2011. Since 2015, he has served as a gyomu(Won-Buddhist minister). During his doctoral studies in Won-Buddhist Studies, he was affiliated with the Asian Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC) as a Visiting International Researcher, contributing as an expert to the Database of Religious History project. Since 2019, he has been a professor in the Department of Won-Buddhist Studies at Wonkwang University. His research focuses on the thoughts of Great Opening of Spirit (Jeongsin Gaebyeok) in Won-Buddhism and the exploration of the meaning and practical application of mind practice in contemporary society. His major publications include [The Philosophy of the Great Opening (Gaebyeok) and the Study of Religion] and [Korean Thought and a Great Turning in Civilization].
