== Biography ==
Ms. Maddalena Maltese Representative in New York, New Humanity NGO of Focolare Movement
Maddalena Maltese is a New York correspondent for several newspapers and magazines in Italy and the USA. Throughout her career, she has covered a wide range of topics including global politics, human rights, development, migration, culture, and religion.
During the first three years of the Syrian War, she covered stories related to the life of religious communities in Aleppo, Damascus, and other cities, inspiring several initiatives to promote peace, fundraising campaigns, and conventions. The same happened due to her reporting on the role of faith-based organizations at the borders of Italy, Malta, and Texas.
Empowering social and human development, legality, peacebuilding, and intercultural and interreligious dialogue is her passion inspired by Chiara Lubich, the founder of the Focolare Movement and a champion of promoting unity and fraternity among people of different social backgrounds, religions, and cultures. She is also an ambassador for Religions for Peace International and at the UN’s Multifaith Advisory Council, she represents New Humanity, the NGO of the Focolare Movement.
She holds an M.A. in Communication and Journalism and another one in Philosophy, a postgraduate Certificate in Digital Journalism from the Graduate School of Journalism in New York, and a Certification in Global Studies from New York University.
